Walkthrough: Your First Case
This guide will walk you through the essential steps of reviewing a case in Records Rocket, from opening the case to using the core analysis tools.
Step 1: Open the Case
After logging in, you'll land on your main dashboard, which lists all the cases you have access to.
Find the case you want to review and click on its title to open the Case Dashboard.
Step 2: Explore the Case Dashboard
The Case Dashboard gives you a high-level overview of the case. The two most important components are:
- Document List: A list of all uploaded files for the case. You can see the file name, page count, and processing status.
- Case Timeline: An interactive, chronological list of all medical events automatically extracted from the documents. You can filter this timeline to quickly grasp the case history.
Step 3: Dive into a Document
From the Document List, click on a document to open it in the Interactive Viewer. This is where you'll spend most of your review time.
The viewer is composed of:
- A main content area displaying the document page.
- A thumbnail sidebar on the left for quick navigation.
- A contextual sidebar on the right for notes and events.
- A toolbar at the top for navigation, zoom, and other tools.
Step 4: Search and Annotate
Now, let's find some information.
-
Search: Use the search bar in the right sidebar to look for a specific keyword (e.g., "herniation"). The results will show every page where the term appears. Click a result to jump directly to that page.
-
Bookmark a Page: If you find a critical page, click the Bookmark icon in the top toolbar. This adds the page to a case-wide list of bookmarks for easy access later.
-
Add a Note: Select the Note tool from the toolbar. Click anywhere on the page to drop a pin and write a note. Your note is automatically saved and appears in the right-hand sidebar.
Step 5: Ask the AI Assistant
The most powerful way to analyze the case is by talking to the IME Assistant.
- Open the Chat: The chat interface is readily available from the Case Dashboard.
- Ask a Question: Ask a question in plain English. For example:
"Summarize all physical therapy sessions for the lumbar spine.""When was the first mention of radiculopathy?""What medications were prescribed by Dr. Smith?"
- Review the Answer: The assistant will provide a synthesized answer, complete with citations that link directly back to the source pages in the documents. You can click these citations to verify the information instantly.
Congratulations! You've completed the basic workflow for reviewing a case. The next step is to learn how to use these findings to generate an automated report.
